28th March 2019

The game will take place at Emerald Headingley on Thursday 28th March at 7:45pm and will be live on Sky Sports.

Powell makes just one change to his team after their defeat to St. Helens with Will Maher returning from injury to take his place in the 19-man squad for the first time in 2019. He replaces Tuoyo Egodo.

Maher torn his pectoral muscle during the first session of pre-season and only returned to the field a couple of weeks ago while on dual registration with Halifax.

Powell is expecting a response from his side after their defeat to St. Helens but knows Leeds will be a tough opponent: “We’ve just got to play well against Leeds, at the moment we’re a bit up and down with our form and we’re wanting to get back to being a bit more consistent with the way that we play. We came up against a very good rugby league team last week and sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say we got beat but you’ve got to move on.”

The Rhinos have not enjoyed the best start to 2019 but Powell is expecting his former team to improve throughout the season: “It’s still early days in the season and I know they’ve played one game more than us but they’ve been coming after teams and they’ve been pretty aggressive with their carries. They’re in games and they’re difficult to beat but unfortunately for them they are getting beat. They’ll turn that around at some point, hopefully that won’t happen this week but we know we need to make sure we’re good enough to beat them.”
